I LOVE Corey's choice of subject - definitely "SPOT-ON" (as the British would say!!!) - the layers are definitely impressive and the colors are gorgeous - really a perfect shot of how nature lays down layer after layer of sediment, just like a tree with it's rings of history tucked away within it's trunk.

The photo I choose was not as 'staged' as it might look. Let me explain: I received an amazing book called WISDOM for a gift and within it's pages are high definition photos of famous people over the age of 60 AND the wisdom they've gleaned over the years. I had the book out the other day thumbing through the pages and reading. The aged face of this Amerian artist caught my eye immediately - suggesting the 'passage of time' we all go through. With hand cream on my hands (just finished the dishes) I threw my watch onto the book to enjoy my self-pampering! The watch suggests the theme as well. I looked over and saw my spice rack and the bottle THYME was 'starring' at me and that gave a little twist to the theme as well!!! haha! I laid the spice bottle onto the book and, there you have it . . . T.I.M.E / T.H.Y.M.E. ! ! ! ! ! Okay, now that was dumb!
If you'd like to see more "Team Up Thursday" photos from other women photographers, go by Megan's blog AND Hip Momma's blog - really fun!

I always look forward to how you interpret so differently! Lovely!!
berta, i love this interpretation of time. especially the idea of the passage of time as wisdom rather than more negative connotations. also love how you positioned it so that we only see part of his face -- great compostion. and paired up with the rock? perfect.
Your staged shot makes perfect sense. What a great little play on the word time too. You've captured many different themes in your picture. I like how it matches up differently with Corey's take on geologic time. :)
loved reading about your process in this shot, Berta! :) And as I said on my blog, I really like the composition of it as well.
I love that both of you went for more untraditional shots of time. So creative.
So great that you explained your shot. It seems that your image and all of the pieces just sort of fell into place. How wonderful and clever at the same time! (no pun intended) :0)
You were in the right place at the right time for all those elements to come together! ;o)
I would love to see that book. Adding it to my library list for tomorrow : ) Thank you!
Wow, what a powerful picture. Reminds me of where we are now and quickly we will look like this man.
We must make each day count!
