entering paradise . . . really!

Camera in hand, we headed out Saturday to go, well . . . wherever we wanted! We headed southeast and ended at the Snake River where it felt as though we entered paradise! You can say what you want about our weather but, the up-side of snow storms, rain, clouds and cold is the pay-off we get in WATER! We are not lacking in H2o this year - the streams are swollen beyond their banks and teeming with life. The Snake River, for those who don't know, isn't called Snake River because it's loaded with snakes but because it snakes back and forth so if you were to view it from the air, it looks like a snake! This river keeps us alive and waters our crops in the summer AND, it's so, so beautiful!

Locals will recognize this bridge - here is where we turned off in search for . . .

this . . .

idaho 2

and THIS . . .
We were so happy to find these falls - but came a little unprepared! I was after the 'soft waterfall' photo but when I searched inside my backpack, found out I left my bracket at home - the little 'do-hicky' that holds the camera to the tripod - AND, you need that 'do-hicky' to hold your camera. Man, I was so mad - I grumbled under my breath the entire time! Next time! For now, this is what it looked like. If you happen to be floating the river, you can see the entire falls which literally wrap around the rivers edge - this is only a partial view of it.

This is the view you have if you face to the right while looking at the falls . . .

idaho - snake river, south fork

The area is just coming to life - all the brown vegetation you see will be green and gorgeous in a week or two - everything you see that's brown will be lush and green with our now 80 degree weather . . . however, it did see some snowflakes on the weather forecast this coming Saturday - I mean, what did you expect perfection?!?
